We were reviewing our Electronic invoice down loaded from UPS and noted we were being billed $1.05 per hundred prior to incentives for Declared Value Charges. I called UPS to inquire why were  being overcharged.  They indicated the tariff published at the end of December 2018 effective in 2019 raised the rate from 90 cents per hundred dollars of declared value, to $1.05. Our Var uploaded a corrected rate mode from Lanham this morning.  Have others encountered this situation? Here is the column legend for the UPS bill if you want to see what your were invoiced. i visited amsterdam the first time in my life, it was also the first summit i joined. the event is quite well organized, but there are to less nibbles for coffee break. but that is not so the point. so what is the point? a bit surprisingly many sessions were a kind of a marketing show from and for ISVs and/or partners. this can be interesting, if someone has a special interest in the products of the ISV, but it's not really interesting for the public, for people who are interested in news about BC in general. or ... power bi is a quite interesting tool and it's nice, that someone can make basic analysis reporting for BC data, but it's not specific BC. what ...

I'm glad you asked! Planning for our 12th annual Summit has begun, and if you run Business Central or NAV at your organization, you could lead a session at the conference! This year's Summit North America (the “N.A.”) will be October 14-18 in Orlando, Florida, and your User Group Programming Committee is looking for fresh ideas and new faces via our Request for Proposals (the “RFP”). It's our method of collecting session ideas and speakers so the Programming Committee can review and assemble a truly valuable conference agenda, and you can access it here:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/UGSummitNA2019 .  We want to hear from you! If you're thinking ...

For The Love of NAV! Success & the Admin!             By Holly T. Kutil 02/14/19 I am grateful for a dear friend and mentor in the NAV space, Cynthia Priebe, it was our first encounter back in 2008 that sparked the flame that ignited into the blaze of passion I have for our beloved ERP we have called Navision, NAV and now Business Central.   It was a simple encounter where she pointed out that typing "t" in a date field would fill in the current date of 02/14/19 or "today's" date.  That tip sure seems like a small thing, but when you work in an ERP and type in the date 02/14/19 more than 100 times a day . . . It becomes a "BIG" thing!   That ...

A Successful Admin Is Not An Island! Success & the Admin!             By Holly T. Kutil 01/30/19   If you are an ERP Administrator and you find yourself sitting in a corner office or the basement, (depends on how much your boss likes you) looking out the window or staring at a computer monitor, waiting for the rest of the employees to knock on your door, I am here to tell you that you are doing it wrong.  If you have not found a group of ERP Administrators to network with on a regular basis, again you are doing it wrong.  An admin cannot live on an island and cannot do it alone so today we are going to talk about how to thrive and not just survive!  ...

My Role as the Gatekeeper Success & the Admin!             By Holly T. Kutil 01/16/19   I think it would be ridiculously entertaining to have a business card that read…Holly T. Kutil, Gatekeeper, don't you?  At first thought you may not think being the ERP Administrator and the Gatekeeper have anything to do with one another, but I am here to share my thoughts on just how this role relates to you as the ERP Administrator, your company and your partner.  The Gatekeeper, a person in charge of a gate, usually to identify, count, supervise, etc., the traffic or flow through it, a guardian, a monitor, a person who controls access. Is it starting ...

Hello BCUG!  My name is Savanne and I work for Celero Solutions - an IT company based out of Canada.  Our offices are located in Calgary AB, Regina Sask and Winnipeg MB.  Celero spent time in 2018 looking at ERP solutions and we believe  D365 Business Central is a best fit for the organization.  We have had extensive talks with Microsoft vendors, but those talks are on hold for the moment.  Before we move forward with D365 BC, we’d like to get some time with a non-vendor-affiliated consultant who has a wealth of experience in D365 BC (or D365 NAV, its predecessor).  The SME would be someone who could review our business requirements, help us build out a ...

ERP Admin…What is that? Success & the Admin!             By Holly T. Kutil 01/19/19 Many titles are given to the role of ERP Administrator , such as the IT Manager, Business Analyst, System Manager or Admin, and in some companies CIO (Chief Information Officer) and of all of them past and present my favorite is NAV Admin.  I was fortunate to work at a company that saw the importance and necessity of employing someone to keep a finger on the pulse of the company’s heart beat through their ERP, technology, and automation.  Not all companies see the need for someone in that position or feel they have the luxury of allocating funds to this position ...
