    Hello Experts,

How to convert a Sales Quote to a Job in NAV 2016? I couldn't found any option in standard functionality. There is any way to link Sales Quotes or Orders to a Job in Dynamics NAV 2016?

    Appreciate your earliest help.

    Thanking You,

You can manually populate Job No. in sales line to link Sales Quotes or sales Orders to a Job.

That field is on sales line table but not exposed to pages.

    Good Morning Ranjith,

There is no out of the box function to create a Job from a Sales Quote. Jobs are only created manually and are not linked to Sales Quotes at all. There is a Job No. and Job Task No. filed in the Sales Line table but it is used for Sales Invoices that are created from the Job.

    I hope this helps!

I'll add that Jobs have a status of Quote available - and all you would need is to then create a report to print as the "Quote Document" that can be sent to a customer.  You create the Job, mark it as status Quote, fill in what you want to quote, print this new report ... change the job status to switch to an order.

    Hi Robert,
Thank you for your time and sharing this idea.
But I think, this is enough only if we need to take just a "Quote Printout". More than this It won't work if in case need to create a quote prior to job creation and later it convert to a job, also the "archive quote" should be there. Correct me if am wrong and guide me if any better way for this.

    Thanking you,

    Ranjith,

Sales Quotes are incompatible with jobs out of the box.  There is no "Convert Quote to Job" function. You would need to customize that and the Sales Quote model doesn't nicely mesh with the Job/Task/Planning Line model.

Some companies think of quotes essentially as their opportunities.  If the customer wants to track their sales opportunities and tie them to jobs, we have done that with some custom fields to connect the two.  This seems the most popular approach.

Some companies use the "Job Quote" - which is a regular Job with the Status = Quote. Create a new job, set the status to "Quote" and track your quotes as jobs.  If the Job is "won" change the status to Order, otherwise Close the Job.

Maybe it would help if we knew what kind of business this was?

    Robert,
It's very clear and thank you for the note. Our customer business line is Consultant Engineers & Contractors for LPG, PNG & other fuel piping installations, Gas monitoring & detection systems. They are very particular about the quote to job conversion and project tracking.

They aren't much impressed with the custom filed to just link with sales opportunities and job.

I do hope the customization effort and cost will be make them agree with this most popular approach. ha.. ha...

    Best Regards,
