Have you ever been able to export positive pay?

    Positive Pay basically does this:

    1. Choose a filename for the export
    2. Find the check ledger entries that need to be exported
    3. Write those records to the file

That error message looks like it is failing at step 2, meaning it can't find any records to export. It already chose a filename, didn't write anything to it, and thus the file doesn't exist later in the process. You don't say which version you are using but the screen snap error message looks like version 10.0 which is NAV 2018.

Are you sure you have eligible Positive Pay check ledger entries to export? You can run that table directly from Object Designer. I do not have NAV 2018 available, so I may not get the field name exactly right, but there is a field called Positive Pay Exported. This prevents the system from exporting the same payment more than once. Make sure that flag isn't already checked.

Is this a new problem, meaning it used to work and now stopped, or has Positive Pay never worked for you?

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your thoughts, Kyle!

Yes, we are on version 10 of NAV.  This is the first time we are trying to use positive pay so we are brand new at this.

Thank you for the explanation on how NAV processes for Positive Pay.  With some help from another forum member, we were able to determine that my data exchange definition was causing the file not to generate.  We were able to fix the data exchange definition and create the export file.

So, thanks again for your thoughts and help.  I truly appreciate it and you.

    Be well.

    Update for everyone.

I connected with Margi today and after troubleshooting I determined that the Data Exchange Definition was broken.  Instead of digging into it and finding the issue I created a new one and verified all setup/configuration for Positive Pay and got things working as desired.

Microsoft has a HORRIBLE error message on this one.

Totally agree with that assessment of the horrible error message.  I ran into the identical issue when setting up a PosPay export for a demo.  Leaving the Data Exchange format out of the Bank Import/Export setup gives the exact same error message:
