Multiple Users Editing Same Record

  • 1.  Multiple Users Editing Same Record

    Hello,
I have a client in D365 Business Central that is running into issues with multiple users accessing a sales/purchase orders at the same time. Each of them are making changes while the other one is also in the sales/purchase order making changes.

Is there a way to lock a record from being edited when another user is already in the record in edit mode?

    Thank you,

Carrie - I have the same problem. Did you resolve the issue? If so, how did you do it?

It's a good and bad thing. It's called optimistic concurrency control

Unfortunately, unlike other Microsoft apps, Nav doesn't tell you that someone else has the record open for editing, so you both go and edit and when the first one saves the table's timestamp (Row Version) is updated and the next person trying to save gets the error

There's a further problem with the web client: if I change a field in a card, move to another the field, the UI says "saved" unfortunately it's not committed to the DB, so unless I uncheck the edit icon or back to the list (assuming I opened the card from the list), the record is never never actually committed to the DB. Lots of users are going to lose changes because they see a message saying "saved", when it's not
