    Hi Folks,

We are in the process of cleaning up the old contacts from NAV 2013R2 and I would like to ask what would be the best practice to follow.
I am sure those contacts do not have any orders/invoices/ Transactions linked to them.

What are the best practices to be followed for the clean up. Also what do I have to look for before I remove the contacts from the system.

    Any ideas/suggestions are highly welcome.

    Thank you,

    Hi,

What standard you are looking for?

If you delete a contact and it is being used in a transaction it will automatically set to Blank (because of Table relation property).

Just make sure - either delete it from the page or if you want to batch delete it via code then make sure that you call delete trigger with parameter TRUE.

With calling Delete(TRUE) Microsoft code will take care of deleting/updating all related records which are related to that contact record.

What will be updated/deleted when contact is deleted please refer the code in OnDelete Trigger of table 5050 Contact.

I am not a NAV developer so I do not have the knowledge of deleting the contacts from NAV.
Is there a way where I can use rapid start in NAV or deleting it from the SQL database?

    Hi Archana,

You cannot use Rapid Start and you should not use SQL as it will not update related NAV Records.

I would suggest asking your NAV Partner to Develop a batch to delete contacts that you want (not a big task).

    OR

You can also delete them one by one by using NAV Client.
