Short ship of orders

    Hi All

We are currently posting shipments and we want to test using warehouse shipments (but not picks yet). We ship live plants so frequently we will not be able to ship the qty ordered due to quality reasons. Right now billing just change qty ordered to match what was picked and post the shipment

I created a sales order with qty to ship of 10
    I posted a warehouse shipment of 8 (2 short)

I then went into the sales order and attempted to reduce the qty ordered to 8 (as we don;t do back orders) and I got the message "quantity must not be changed when a warehouse shipment line for this sales in exists"

How do I get around this?

    Thanks

    Mark

You have to delete the warehouse shipment that is attached to your sales order.

You might consider doing picks as your first step rather than warehouse shipments, the processing is a little less daunting.

Thanks for suggestions. Unfortunately, picking will be the most difficult thing to do, as we have a lot of unskilled, temporary and seasonal workers. Shipping is a core set of users, who already use existing systems, so have OK-to-good computer skills

    Thanks

We found that if you have back order tolerance set to 100 it will close the warehouse shipment out even if you only ship 1 unit of an item.
For existing orders just change the back order tolerance.  For future orders you can set the back order tolerance on the customer and it will flow through to the orders.

Carolyn, your tolerance is part of Just Foods Add-on and not standard NAV so it probably doesn't apply to Mark.

I'll add that you can post Shipment & Invoice directly from the Warehouse Shipment.  You could post the shipment, delete the remaining warehouse shipment, and then delete the sales order.

    Thanks Eric

We don't plan on deleting our sales orders (one of the add-ins we have can disable the archive)

We really need to post from the sales order as there will be freight adjustments.

    1. Sounds like best plan is to create 1 warehouse shipment per day
    2. Get all source docs
    3. Enter Qty shipped and post shipments
    4. Delete warehouse shipment (outstanding amounts)
    5. Accounting go to sales orders, adjust qty ordered and invoice

    Thanks
