Preventing Access to Configuration Mode

    Hi All

We need to prevent certain user group having access to certain action/fields. For example, sales reps should be able to edit customer data, but not change credit limits, payment terms, etc,. and customer service should be able to edit orders but not release them

Clearly we could write an extension, but we could also do it by removing those items in configuration mode. The problem is, there doesn't seem to be a way to stop a user from entering configuration mode. We DO want to allow them to do personalization, so that they can tailor what they are allowed to see, but we can't have them going into configuration mode and adding back stuff we've hidden

Any ideas how to accomplish this?

    Thanks

    Mark

You can use Easy Security from Mergetool.com to set permissions at the field level.
