  • 1.  Adjusting inventory on Non-Inventory Items

    Posted Dec 08, 2021 01:12 PM
    Hello,

How can I get a non-inventory item to 0 inventory? For example, we use item 100 set up as non-inventory to track consumption of low-cost parts. At the end of the year, we want to set the inventory in the non-specified location to 0 for item 100. How can we do that? Item journals and physical inventory can not be used on non-inventory items.

In Business Central, if the Type field on the Item record is set to "Non-inventory", then the system is already NOT tracking an on-hand quantity for this Item and the "Remaining" quantity (on-hand quantity) on the Item Ledger Entry records is always zero.  Furthermore, the "Qty. On-hand" field is not visible on the Item Card and the Item is not included in the Inventory Valuation report.  So I think you should have nothing to do - but maybe my assumptions per your description are not correct!?!?

    Hey Ken,

You're right on all fronts. The issue is there is now negative inventory in the unspecified location, it doesn't impact inventory valuation but it would be nice to clear the negative numbers out.
