    Hello,
We are running NAV 2013R2. I have a bin that my team would like to rename. I know renaming isn't always the best practice in NAV.
Can someone please tell me if it is best practice to rename a bin? I don't see where I can block it if it's not.
Can someone give me some advice?
    Thanks for your help!
    Happy New Year all!!
    Karen

Hello & Happy New Year Karen,

Renaming a bin should be OK, but it could take a while if you have lots of history.  You probably want to try it in a test environment first.

You can block the use of bins.  Make sure the Block Movement column is displayed and then you can block inbound, outbound, or All movement for a bin.

I have renamed Bins in the Past.  I recommend you remove all Inventory from a Bin and then Rename, then move Inventory back to the Bin.

Be careful of the Warehouse Activity Line. Some version of NAV do not have a relation to the Bin Table. You would have to verify in the table relation property on the Bin Code field. If there is no relation, it will not rename any Warehouse Activity Lines for that bin.
I would try this in your test environment first, or at least make sure there are no active Warehouse Activity Lines for that bin.
