Just curious if anyone is using NAV's Service Module.  If so I'd appreciate some perspective on how well it is working.  We currently are using the sales order and a modified process to do repairs.

    We are on NAV2016.

    Thanks

    Hi Bill,
There are a great number of service and rental companies that use NAV's and Business Central's standard service functionality.
Rental companies use the service module to repair their fleet and many rental companies also sell equipment and then service their customer's equipment.
There are also a number of companies that sell parts and provide service using the standard service functionality.
I did a presentation at Summit NA two weeks ago on Service Management in Business Central and the room was full.

    Thanks Robb,

Unfortunately I missed the session.  I'll certainly look at the recording when it comes out.  Does it function similarly in NAV 2016 as BC?

Bill, Service in NAV 2016 works similarly to Service in Business Central.  You may find the standard customer facing documents are actually better in NAV 2016.

    Bill,

Adding tp what Robb wrote... I too had a session on Service at Summit as well. It is getting very popular and used more and more. What do you want to know?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Steve thanks also,

I'll track down your session as well.  We are in budget and strategic planning and was curious of the resources (external) it takes to setup and how long to roll it out.  And if there were any hurdles one should know of.

    Thanks.

    Bill,

I offered giving my attendees the last published Service Manual that was completed in NAV 2015. After that version it went more online as all instructions are in BC. Send me your email and I will email you the manual. As for how long to setup and roll-out, maybe a week to setup and then training and User Acceptance Testing. It will depend on how you want to utilize Service and related Items sold. Will you use Contracts and Warranties. How will you deploy Dispatch and capture Technician time.

    Thanks,
    Steve
