    Good Morning,
    Does anyone know of a good tutorial or webinar for setting up, purchasing and selling of a BOM.  We are in Nav 2016.

    Are you talking about Kits/Assembly BOMs?

    High Level Information:
    • You create an Item in NAV and set the Replenishment System to Assembly Order.
    • You then set the Assembly Policy to either Make-to-Order (assembled at time of Sale) or Make-to-Stock (created based on stock level/demand for a time period).
    • NAV can create the Assembly Order automatically based on the Assembly Policy, or you can do it manually.
    • NAV will see the demand for the components once the Assembly Order is created, and will suggest replenishment based on the individual components (not for the Assembly Item).
    Keep in mind you don't purchase the Assembly Item, you are buying the components.  If you manually add the Assembly Item on a Purchase Order, NAV does have the ability to explode the BOM.

    Hi Ben,
    We are starting from scratch on inventory BOM's.  Our company is job based not manufacturing based.  I am hoping for an in depth tutorial from start to finish.

    Thank you for the clarification.  Are you using any specific Jobs add-on?

    I would suggest you review the resources available through CustomerSource (included in your Enhancement Plan).  If the Dynamic Learning Portal (DLP) is available to you, it might provide some good information for you.

    In base NAV Jobs, a BOM is made up of the Job Planning Lines of Type "Item".  The only way to make a standard BOM is to create a Job template, and use "Copy Job" to bring the Task/Planning Line info into your new Jobs.  Add-On products have other ways to improve this process.

    You should also review the help files.  Go to a Job Planning Line and hit "F1" while on the Type Field.  This is assuming the help files were installed when NAV was installed.
