    Hi,
We currently make use of lot-specific tracking for many of our raw material items. Where is the best place to store information about specific lots? The information that I'd like to store for lots will definitely require additional custom fields but I'm wondering where I should add these custom fields (both table and page). Does NAV have this built-in card somewhere or would it be a custom card?
I will keep checking this post in case additional details are required.

    Thanks in advance,

NAV has a Lot No. Information table (table 6505, page 6505).  I've seen it, but never used it.

From the Item Card, you can Navigate to Item Tracking Entries and then Navigate to the Lot Information Card.

There are fields on the Item Tracking Code Card to make the use of the card mandatory for inbound and outbound transactions..

To expound on what @Lewis Rosenberg has shared so far, even though there is a setting on Item Tracking Code that can tighten up the use of lots even further be aware, that such controls can also create a hindrance rather than support your process.

I have seen organizations add custom fields to the Lot Information Card and lot setup in advance of assigning a lot no. to a batch in production (outbound) or a received raw material (inbound) and this was critical to their process.

There are many nuances to lot tracking and how extensively it can be used in NAV.

@Lewis Rosenberg It looks like many lots contain Item Tracking Line Entries but have a blank Lot No. Information List. Any idea why this might be?

Additionally, when the Lot No. Information Card does pull up, neither the Lot No. nor Serial No. Fact Boxes are available. Were these perhaps added in a more recent version of NAV?

    Thanks,
