We currently have many different order numbers that we use when creating a Sales Order linked through the relationships in our sales order No Series. When we create order numbers, we obviously need to select one of these order numbers.

We are trying to create order numbers from Quotes. It doesn't ask us which order it's creating, rather selects the default or maybe it's the first Sales Order number series. Is there a way (without a customization) to specify which number series it uses?

You are correct in that a Sales Quote, when a User converts to a Sales Order, looks at the Sales Order No. Series value setup in Sales & Receivable Setup. It is an automatic function and a User is NOT prompted with the Relationship you've setup for the Sales Order No. Series. This one I would say moves to your Partner to create a customization (extension in BC). If you will customize, you might consider creating a link between a Quote No. Series and the Sales Order No. Series so when a User select the Quote No. Series, when it converts, the Order No. Series is defined.

I agree with Steve on this.  You could add a Sales Order No. Series field on the Sales Header.  When a Quote is created the field could auto-populate with either the Default SO No. Series or one based on the Quote No. Series (requires adding a relationship in the Quote No. Series.  If you make the field visible, then your order entry could make changes to the No. Series prior to the Make Order process.  You would need to update the Make Order process to use the No. Series selected on the Quote when making the Sales Order.

Your partner should be able to help you create the extension.
