  • 1.  Permission set P&P-Q/O/I/R/C not recognized by NAV for Include permissions

I have been working with permissions for a few years in NAV and I have not seen this error before.
I am setting up a New permission set for our purchasing agent and I am trying to include a permission set P&P-Q/O/I/R/C (which has been in NAV for a long time). When I am in Edit - Permissions Card I click on the Include/Exclude Permission Set button and the Edit - Add/Subtract Permission Set window opens. In the Source: field I Start to type P and all of the permission sets that start with P show up. I choose the set I want to include and hit OK. Error

There is no Permission Set within the filer.Filters:Role ID: P&P-Q/O/I/....

Screenshot included. The screenshot is of the Edit - Permissions Card and the Edit - Add/Subtract Permission Set Card in front.

What I have tried to fix this issue
I tried this in PROD environment as well as TEST and I get the same error.
Clear filters thinking I left something in the filter and the clear filter button is not clickable.
Click in to the drop down and find the permission set I want. Still gives the error
Checked the Permission Set Table and the permissions are on that table

Using a suggestion from Theresa Davis at Group O (Thank you! You were super helpful! AND I didn't have to open a ticket!!)

I copied the permissions out of the Permission Sets that didn't work to a new permission set with a different name and they worked. I named them MBC-PP Journal (as an example) I think the & is what was causing the issue. I used all other symbols that were in the name and did not get stopped. Seems odd the & causing an issue after the sets having the & in them for a number of years. Hope this helps someone else!

    Troy,

Thanks for replying to your own post.  :-)

I planned to reply but tried and could not duplicate your issue.  I know Microsoft uses the ampersand in their permission set names, but it is never a good idea since the symbol is used as a wildcard.  I used to use parentheses when naming my permission sets but soon afterwards learned that they are ignored when you search and filter, so it is best to stick with numbers, letters, hyphens, and underscores.
