RapidStart Services Updating Ship-to Addresses

    I am new to using RapidStart Services and have found it extremely useful for data cleanup etc..

    I'm hoping this group can help me resolve what appears to be a problem.  It cold be a limitation for which I'm not yet familiar.

    Situation:   I'm attempting to update Ship-to records for a specific Company.   I need to add missing Ship-to records and replace the ship-to.Code for existing records using the Config Mapping in RapidStart.  I've mapped the old Ship-to.Code to the new Ship-to.Code.

    Here's what I've tried:

    1. Include Ship-to Address records with only the new records I want added. The Config Mapping includes the crosswalk of the existing to replacement record .
    Result: Existing records are not updated using the config mapping.  All records loaded from the Ship-to Address.

    2. Include only existing Ship-to Address records that need to be updated using the Config Mapping.   Result: No update of the ship-to.Code.

    3. Include Ship-to Address records with existing and new along with the Config Mapping.   Result:  All Ship-to records not in the system added.  No update of ship-to.Code for existing records having a replacement record in the Ship-to noted and Config Mapping which maps old/new value.

    4. Include only the Config Mapping to update the existing records with the new Code.  Result: No update occurs.

    The system will allow me to update the Ship-to Code value when performing this in the GUI.   My hope was to be able to perform this via RapidStart.   rather than manually edit.

    What am I missing?  Thanks so much.

    Hi Sarah,

    The "Code" field in the "Ship-to address" record is a primary key.  I don't think Rapidstart allows changing it to something else.

    My recommendation is to create a new ship-to address record with a new code for the ones you want to modify.  Then manually remove the old ones.

    I agree that rapid start will not do a rename (which is when you are changing any part of the primary key which in the case of the Ship-To Address is Customer No, Code). If you have a ton of these to do (like 1000's) that makes it too time consuming  to do it manually you could have a developer do this:
    Create a new table that has 3 fields:
    Customer No.
    New Code

    Populate this table with the existing and new codes (you could do this via rapid start if you wanted).

    Then the developer would write a quick program that runs through each record and does a rename.  Depending on your data, renames can sometimes take a little while so be aware of that.

    Shouldn't take a developer more than an hour or so to develop this.
