Nav 18, Windows 7, and client access

  • 1.  Nav 18, Windows 7, and client access

    Hi all

    We're about to upgrade to Nav 18 (on-prem), but still have a number of Windows 7 desktop users out there.
    As we're not going to be able to upgrade these to Windows 10 before we go live on Nav 18, so I just wanted to see if anyone else out there has managed to successfully get W7 & Nav 18 working together with the desktop client?

    If not, then I think our only other option would be to go with Web Client rather than Client app - in which case, are there any glaring limitations that we should know about?

    Thanks

    John

    I'm pretty sure the desktop client works on win7, I don't see why it wouldn't.
    But for the Web client, there are limitations and if you search on this forum you'll see threads that list them.

    We tried the web client for our NAV2018 implementation but finally chose to go with the normal desktop client instead.

    You need to install the .Net 4.7 framework manually on the Windows 7 PCs before installing the NAV Windows client.

    Thanks for your input everyone.

    We got it working, had to carry out the following;

    • Install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7 & reboot
    • Install Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools For Office Redist
    • Then install Dynamics NAV RoleTailored Client

    We upgraded last year and have a mix of Windows 7 and Windows 10 desktops. The Client works on both with no problem. There are some prerequisites that need to be installed, but they are included with the Navision software.
