NAV 2013 R2 on Azure SQL Managed Instance

    Hello,

I am trying to find out if NAV 2013 R2 would work with Azure SQL Managed Instance. The idea is to have an Azure VM with NAV server application accessing the database instance running on the SQL Managed Instance.
I have searched this information, but can't find it anywhere.

Does anyone know if this scenario works?

    Thanks!

    Hello Renata

We were in a similar situation, we were running NAV 2013 R2 in a hosted data centre and wanted to move to Azure using Azure SQL.  Unfortunately it is not possible, my understanding is that the first version of NAV to support this was NAV 2016.  You can host NAV 2013 in Azure but you would need to also setup a traditional SQL server.

We decided to upgrade our NAV version and utilise Azure and Azure SQL.  It was well worth the effort and we are very happy.

    Hi Nick,

Thank you very much for your response. That helped us clarify the technical restrictions along with some other information we got from other people.

    Cheers,
