Open Item Ledger Entries

    Hello,

    We use Navision 2009 r2 and are unable to close inventory periods due to Open Item Ledger Entries.  What scenarios can cause Item Ledger Entries to remain Open?

    In this example, the Open transactions were a Purchase Receipt for Qty 345 and a Sales Shipment for Qty 345.

    I believe that those entries would still be open if they have not yet been invoiced.

    Hi Stacy,
    We have the same issue since we started with closing inventory periods.
    We try to solve as much as we can with Item Application Entries.
    What's left, we do a hard change on the field Open of these lines.
    We set a filter on:
    Posting Date: Month which should be closed
    Open = Yes
    Remaining Qty < 0

    This is not how it should work, but this was the only solution we could find with our partner.
    I believe it's part of the history of entries in our system since 2003.

    Hi Stacy,

    The Purchase Receipt would still be Open if Purchase Matching to the Invoice has not happened yet.

    A Sales Shipment would still be open if the Sales Invoice has not been posted for this shipment.

    ​Hello Stacy,

    Here are a couple settings to review:

    *If you use Serial or Lot numbering on the inventory Item(s) in question, then please make sure that the Item Tracking card that is assigned to this Item has 'Lot/SN Specific Tracking' set to True (checked).

    *Also you might check to make sure 'Prevent Negative Inventory' is set to True (checked) on the Inventory Setup page.
