BC - Drop Shipment Purchasing Unit of Measure

We have a scenario where we will sell in FT and purchase in Meters.  This works great when you create a Standard Purchase Order from a Sales Order, it automatically calculates the conversion from FT on the SO to the correct Meters on the PO.  However, this does not work for Drop Shipments.  Anyone have a work around for this?  I'm trying to avoid having to create an extension if possible.

    Hello Abby,

Would we be correct to assume all available Unit of Measure fields/settings are currently being used on the Item card (Base UoM, Sales UoM, Purch UoM, Put-away UoM)? Then we can go from there.

    Hi Alex,

Yes, Base UofM is FT.  Sales UofM is FT.  Purchase UofM is M.  This works with Create PO documents for standard lines.  For Drop Ship it doesn't because I assume the lines are associated ("linked").

I just tested this in a standard NAV 2017 database and I got the same results.  Apparently, the Requisition Worksheet does not converted Sales Unit of Measure to the Purchase Unit of Measure for Drop Shipments in standard NAV or BC.

The User does have the ability to change the Unit of Measure in the Requisition Worksheet before creating the Purchase Order but then the User gets an error message that states the Unit of Measure Code must agree with the Unit of Measure Code on the Sales Line of the Sales Order.

Without modifying BC, you could use the Extended Text and display the Extended Text only on Purchase Orders.  The Extended Text could simply state the conversion factor.
