    Hi All

Created a rapid start package for customers and another for contacts

When I imported customers and went to the customer list, the name/address, etc were empty.

I them imported the same data as contacts of type company and it populated the names and addresses

However when try to  update a customer record in rapidstart I get this:

"Contact CT00141 XXXX is not related to customer C00141 XXXX" on "Primary contactNo"

When I look in Contact Bus Relations, I see the record

     CT00141 /  CUST  / 1 /  C00141

Any idea what could cause this?

    Thnaks

    Mark

    Mark,
I cannot troubleshoot your specific error without seeing your import files and how your customer records are stored.  But below is the steps I generally follow and you can compare to your process in importing customers/contacts:
    1. Import customers
    2. Ensure the business relations table is empty
    3. Ensure contacts table is empty
    4. Export the empty "contacts" table into excel
    5. Run "Create Contacts from Customer" function to get the initial customer company contact records created.
    6. In my contacts export excel file (step 2), fill in your "person" contact details and ensure the correct "Company Contact No." is populated to each person contact.
    7. Check contacts table for successful import.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks Nirav

Importing customers and then running the report worked. Found out before I read this :-)

Thanks for taking time to respond

If you are sure the data is correct for the customer in all fields. I will say uncheck the validation on all of them. Then import the customers only.

If they come inside correctly. Then import the contacts and Contact Business Relation again together.

Choice 2: In the Rapid package, export 1 good customer to Excel. This way the format is given, then format the data into the Excel layout they provided and import it.

    Good luck.

    Thanks Geovanny

Tried all of that. Created customer and contact from scratch, formatted my Excel exactly same. Didn't work

    Result was frustratingly simple:

    Import customers
Run report "Create Contacts from customers"

8 hours of my life I'm not getting back :-)

Hopefully someone else will benefit from this nugget later :-)

Simply put, this error happens when you enter a value into the "Primary Contact Code" on the Customer Card that is for a contact that is not related to this specific customer.  So you need to check the Customer rapid start package and see why you are setting the "Primary Contact Code" with a Contact that is related to another customer.

Also I strongly agree with Nirav that you should run "Create Contacts from Customer" to create all of the company contacts.

Curious to see how far these and other suggestions on this thread have gotten you.
