Role Center

When in Role Center, a user removed Departments folder on the Navigation Pane.  We tested to see how to get it back.  To fix, we went to Customize Navigation Pane/Restore Defaults.  This worked.    Unfortunately, this removes any Views in the Navigation pane.   We are hoping there is another solution with the user not losing their saved views.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Lori,

Restore Defaults will make it as default.

Have you tried to open the Client in config mode, and customise the navigation accordingly.

    Hi Lori,

As Deepak stated, if you add the users personalized views via configuration mode, those views will never be lost even if you Restore Defaults. Restore Defaults only eliminates personalizations done on that specific machine.

As far as a built in method for restoring the Departments menu, I do not believe there is one, at least not in NAV 2016.

I concur that once Department is removed, it does not come back unless you restore defaults.  Furthermore, when the Department is removed, it removes the ability to add other areas that are not already on the navigation pane.    This can be helpful for organizations that wish to use the Role Center/Navigation Pane as a form of Permissions/security.  (missing the good ole 'classic' days!).

When i am working in CONFIG mode to make universal changes to Role Centers, the following is my best practice:

    1. Create the Role Center and name it xxx template. i.e; AR TEMPLATE
    2. Make changes as desired - DO NOT DELETE DEPARTMENTS
    3. When ready to begin end-user testing, save the role center as-is
    4. Copy the saved Template and rename it to the desired Role Center name (ie; "AR"  and remove "template")
    5. Delete Departments
