Print Ledger View

We recently upgraded from NAV2009 RTC to D365BC and noticed that the print (or export to excel report) capability at the ledger screen view is no longer available.  Is there any way to get this print functionality back?

To provide a bit of context, when we create a payment journal our process is to print (or export it to excel report) and send to Exec team for payment approval prior to printing and posting checks.  This no longer appears to be an option.  We also used the ledger print function for quick ad-hoc review of different ledger analyses.

I'm aware that the new workflow approval function could alleviate the payment journal approval issue, but we're not quite ready to dig that deep or train our Exec team on the workflow approval process.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Nate

From the Payment Journal menu, go to Page, then Edit in Excel.
    To Excel
You must have the Excel Addin installed and be logged in to get the data into the workbook that opens.

Thanks Cynthia.  We tried the Edit in Excel method, but it doesn't seem to provide the key field needed to approve payments, Payment Due Date.  Any way to pull in the Payment Due Date?

Have you played at all with the Design mode in the Excel Add-In? This functionality is nearly identical to personalizing your screen so will have an additional list of fields you can add to the document. Once you add and remove fields you will want to refresh the data which will pull the details for your additional field.

You can also use this mode to adjust filters and even add excel functions directly in your data tables. The tool is definitely a work in process but has pretty good functionality for adjusting after you get the base details (you can even add more sheets for other data points).

I have seen the old Export to Excel show up on some pages recently so I think they are working on getting that functionality back embedded into the interface but it isn't there yet.

Let me know if you need any more details on the design mode!

    Nathan,

So the real issue is not that you can't export to Excel, it is that what is exported is missing the Applies-to Doc Due Date column, correct?

If yes, I would submit this to Microsoft. This was probably an oversight.

Maybe temporarily you can use the Cash Requirements by Due Date (printed with detail) for what you are trying to accomplish. This report can be printed or sent to Excel.

    Hi Nathan,
Based on your specific scenario, I would suggest using the Vendor Prepayment Journal, located under Actions --> Posting in the Payment Journal.  That report provides the details of the loaded payment journal that can then be sent to the team for review/approval prior to printing the checks.
