Business Central Developer Training

    Hello!

We're upgrading from NAV 2009 R2 all the way up to the Spring release of Business Central. I'm wondering if any of you know a good resource for formal training in Business Central development. RTC report developing, page developing, subscription events, etc. I've looked at the academy classes here but none of them seem to be for development. Anybody know of training I can look into? I'm based in NYC so if they offer classes in the NYC area I can go to them.

    Thanks!
    Kevin

If you have been developing in CAL, then you may find this resource helpful:

It's not a class, but may be all that you need.

I agree with Cynthia. If you've been developing--even in 2009, the jump shouldn't be too hard to figure out and Mark's book is a great choice. Events sound complicated, but are very straight-forward once you start playing with them. Pages are similar to forms, so again easy to get up to speed. Reports are another matter. I would highly recommend taking @Claus Lundstrøm's class on report development. I'm not sure what reports look like outside of CAL, but regardless Claus is the expert and a great teacher.

Hey Kevin, I don't know of any relatively local dev classes coming up, but have a few online resources that may help:

    Microsoft Learn: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/browse/?products=dynamics-business-central
    Getting started with AL: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/developer/devenv-get-started
    Best Practices with AL: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/compliance/apptest-bestpracticesforalcode
    Plataan: https://plataan.tv/en/plataan/training-course/business-central

Claus is the man for reporting and has done several webinars for the user group; there are webinars too on the new dev environment.  Good luck!

You may also want to consider this resource. It may be all you need if you are an experienced NAV developer.
