Mass Update Fixed Asset Card

  • 1.  Mass Update Fixed Asset Card

    I am trying to update the Depreciation Start Date and Life on fixed assets without editing each asset. Is there a way to update all assets? I was looking for something like an "Edit in Excel" feature but could not find anything.

    I am using Dynamics Business Central.

    Have you explored Configuration Packages?  This tool essentially allows you to choose tables and fields and build an Excel workbook that will write to the new table.

    I would also use the Rapid Start approach, as Jason suggests.   Create a package and setup with the FA table and select the fields only for FA number and starting date.   Then "export to excel" and the spreadsheet will be created with all your fixed assets.  Simply change the data in the date field, save and then import back into the package.  Review and "Apply Data".

    Also, the Edit in Excel function should work in the latest BC version.  Which version are you working with?
