First of all, Configuration Templates are used to load specific fields with data. Unless you have a customization that does otherwise, the configuration template used to load data to your item card at the time is was created is not the issue.
It is more likely that you have different dimensions assigned either the GL Accounts that this posting will use and/or the Item as Code Mandatory. I would look there first.

What I created in our test database. We are running Nav 2013 R2.
I created a Configuration Template and create an item card and applied this template to it.

I decided that I am going to remove some of the Field out due to not wanting to apply it anymore the Last two.
I created a whse item journal adjustment for an item not on hand that does not relate to to this A1.
I run the Calc Whse Adj for the Item Journal and it pulls up the item being adjusted out.
When I click on post I get the error.

If I change the Item Cat Dim It prompts me to switch it back to C4 (Which it should be)

When I run my session to see where the error is it points to Codeunit 21: Item Jnl.-Check Line

Can you provide a screenshot of the error along with what exactly you are doing when you get the error?

Subject: Configuration Template error
We ran into an issue where a configuration template ABC that was made for a dimension value 123 for table 27 (Items) was modify. When we try to do any posting an error comes up stating the error with the dimension value 123 even though the line item being posted dimension value 456 does not relate to the modify dimension value 123. (some lines were removed from configuration template ABC).
I had a backup of the record so I had to input all the values back into record ABC that were modify so we can post again.
Does anyone know what can cause this error or is there an error on the code itself?
This error will stop any posting entries (Receiving, shipping, output, item journal, invoices, sales order).
I'm sure it is related to Codeunit 408 Dimension Management, but when I check on the error it points me to the highlighted error below. This one is for item journal codeunit 21. If you try to post from other entries it will point to its own codeunit relating to the entries.
