Are there any tools people would recommend to merge duplicate customer/vendors either in the same company or across two companies?

We are using the Merge Utiltilies from Dynamics NAV Addons in our Nav 2018 environment and have been happy with it.  It works well out of the box although we did have to do a custom process only report so we could run merges off-hours to prevent locking of tables.  In addition, we capture and store the Merge From customer number in the Comment Line of the Merge To customer, so we know what customers were merged together.  The merges typically run pretty quickly but it depends on how many orders, invoices, ledger entries, etc, that a customer or vendor has.  All our merges are done within the same company.

If you are on Business Central, there is a new 'Merge Duplicates' action on Customer and Vendor card (I included a link to MS Docs below).  We just started our upgrade from NAV 2018 to BC, so I have only briefly reviewed and tested it. But it looks like you can select which fields to keep and which to override. Then you may have to resolve or delete conflicts due to Primary Key values in related tables (Ex :Comments).  I assume this can only be done within the same company, and has to be done manually, but Im not positive. But it can be used for customer and vendors with history/ledger entries.

Like @Casey Cabler stated, the Merge Duplicates action in Business Central works really well. You might also try the Faveo Duplicate Check app in AppSource. I haven't really dove into this app's full capabilities but the little things I've tried seem to work well. Also, I believe it's free.

    Hope this helps!
