NAV 2017 job queues skipping a day

  • 1.  NAV 2017 job queues skipping a day

    Hello everyone,

We are encountering issues where a couple of our nightly running job queues are skipping a day after previous run unless we manually update the job queue to reflect the correct date.  The priority is the same for all ready job queues and there is nothing set under no. of minutes between runs on either job queue that is encountering the issue.

Would someone please be able to provide some input on how to resolve this issue?

    Thanks.

    Hi Paul,

One thing I can think of is, what times are you running the Job Queue. It could be a matter of when the job finishes - like by midnight, after midnight as that might be causing it to skip the current date and moving to the next date.

Also, check your job frequency parameters. If you post the setup of one job where it's happening, we (your NAVUG friends) might be able to assist better.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,

I have attached a couple of job queue screenshots that show our current setup on 2 job queues that are encountering the issue of skipping a day.  This job doesn't have a start and end time because the time to run of the job varies greatly from one day to the next.

If there are any further suggestions to help resolve the issue it would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hi Paul,
I see a start time for both of these - 2:15 am for the weekday job and 4 am for the weekend job. The parameter you are missing is the total number of minutes between each run, I usually put 2 in there so the system tries it again after 2 minutes if it fails. Did you say the jobs are completing successfully though just skipping a day? The dates seem correct on both jobs though. Also, I always assign priority = 1 for my jobs.

    Hi Paul,

I have experienced this as well, and never found a very good explanation for it. The best workaround I have found is to set the start and end times of the job, and then set the "No. of Minutes between Runs" to that same time interval (assuming you want it to run once per day). For example, Starting Time = 12:00, Ending Time = 12:30, No. of Minutes between Runs = 30.
