best practices - reporting across multiple companies in NAV?

  • 1.  best practices - reporting across multiple companies in NAV?

    we have many companies in NAV and need to do rollup reporting

    Today we sync the data to Adaptive insights and SQL Server where the tables get flattened across companies so there is one table with company ID as a column we can pivot on.

    What are best practices others have for doing this type of reporting when you have more than one company in NAV?

    For example I have someone who wants to run an accounts receivables aging report across 10+ companies in NAV.  Is there any way to do this in NAV or do I need to take the current approach and scale it?

    Thanks

    Hi Benji,

    Look for a Business Intelligence tool such as JetGlobal. It allows you to consolidate reports from multiple data sources.

    Hi Benji,

    What version of NAV are you on?
    Have you heard of ZAP BI? www.zapbi.com

    From what I understand you will need a data warehouse where you aggregate all the company information to then be able to report of I.e. unified data. Adaptive insights sites not do so you will have to do this manually and also build the right links/relationships between those tables. Can it be done, yes..is this scalable not quite. But if interested, ZAP produces data warehouse for NAV out of the box with the tables relationships etc prebuilt. Being a tool this allows you to scale far easily.

    Let me know if this is of interest.

    Hi Benji;

    If your many companies are the same functional currency and same fiscal year end, Binary Streams "Multi Entity Management" might be of help.  You can combine all your companies into a single instance of Business Central where as many companies as you require can co-exist which gives you dramatically improved access to rollup reports as well as virtually any kind of combined reporting you desire. There would be work involved in setting this up but if you are a growing company and desire flexible reporting options across your companies, this might be for you.  Of course all the necessary security required between companies is provided  as well.
