Export to Excel

  • 1.  Export to Excel

    Posted 4 days ago
    Hi All,

I am trying to Export general ledger activity, vendor activity, etc to Excel.  When I click on Print & Send to Excel, it asks me to save the file instead of opening it in Excel.  I think I accidentally clicked on save instead of open once last week and now it doesn't even give me the option.  Does anyone know how I can fix this?

    Thank you.

Do you use the Print feature and then choose Excel, in version 2017/2018 or are you using an earlier version? Have you tried just using Ctrl+E, the shortcut?

    Hi Kim,

Yes, I hit print and then choose Excel.  We are using NAV 2016.  I did try using the Ctrl+E but it asked to save as well.

    Thanks.

Not sure when this happened but in 2017 and 2018, I get prompted to save the Excel file when using Ctrl+E and then I noticed a sneaky little check box.

I unchecked the box and it no longer displays this screen, it just opens Excel with the data.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Kim,

I tried the Ctrl+E and the pop up I get doesn't give me the option to uncheck anything.  it is just a normal save box with the folders list.

It sounds like NAV thinks the print window is still open somehow.  Have you tried opening the printer window (print > print, not the Excel option) to see if it has the Send To. option available?  Newer versions of NAV and BC has that option.

    Hi Jason,

I just tried the Print option and it just prints to paper.

This is not a NAV setting but rather a registry setting on windows.  I can't seem to find the correct article that explains how to re-enable this.  Basically you need to go into the registry and create or reset one of the keys.  If I find out how to do this I will respond, but you might need a Microsoft ticket to solve this.

Consider uninstalling Excel and reinstalling it along with Nav Add-in. Might be faster than finding the cause.  Unless it's so obvious you have already tried it.
