    Hello!

I'm looking for more information on the Currency Code field in the Foreign Trade tab of a job. If a Customer is setup with a foreign currency, why would the Job not default with that information? Additionally, where is that field editable?

    Thanks!

    Amanda,

Here is the limit of my knowledge, maybe this will help, or maybe I am sharing something you already know.

Currency Code: If this is entered the job planning and invoicing will occur in this currency. This field is editable in my database. It does not default from the Customer Currency Code. I have never seen this disabled, but I am typically working as a super user. Could it be some sort of security in the database you are working in?

Invoice Currency Code: Invoicing will occur in this currency. This does default from the Customer Currency Code. I have always wondered, but not yet tested, if local currency is used for the planning lines. If not, why the different fields?

If both are defined, they must be the same code.

I am interested to see what others have to add.

Currency Code field is used when you need to plan the entire job in the foreign currency as well as invoice in foreign currency.   Planning in another currency is optional and so does not default from the customer's currency field.  Someone might want to plan the job in local currency and only invoice in the customer's currency - using the Invoice Currency Code.  Planning a job in the customer's currency can be tricky so I believe not defaulting is best. It should be a conscious decision to plan this way.

@Cynthia Priebe MCP, DCP - This field is not editable in my database and I'm not sure why.

@Patti Parrish - Great info. Any idea why it would not be editable on the job? I am trying to get it planned and invoiced in a foreign currency.

    Thanks!

Could it be related to the role you are using?  Sometimes the role can block fields.
Or has the page been modified?

@Patti Parrish - Good thought. I changed to the Resource Manager as that one makes the most sense, but no luck there either.

@Amanda Mayer what version of NAV and localization? Is this in Cronus, or a customer's database?

You could look at the Job Card Page through the Designer. Check the properties on the Currency Code field to see if a Global Variable has been defined as the value for Enabled property.

My NAV 2018 Cronus NA database does not have a value here, but this would be a place to start tracking it down.
