    Hi,
We are running NAV 2017 and have records in the database going back to 2008. We would like to possibly archive older data to improve overall performance when pulling up lists or running reports in NAV as well as reporting on the data in our BI solution. There is a section in NAV administration for 'Data Deletion' that includes deletion of various documents and also date compression on ledger entries. Has anyone had experience using the date compression function in NAV or performed archival of older records to access for reporting purposes?
    Thanks,
    Don

    Don,

We use the Date Compress Whse. Entries often, we try to run it quarterly, period length Year, retain serial and lot numbers, we set the ending date three months back as occasionally it's useful to examine recent entries.

We've not ever used the G/l Entries task, but it's one we are considering.

    Hi Don,
We have the same issue as we have data since 2004.
I used some default cleaning tools of Dynamics, but in our situation they didn't work.
Compressing VAT ledger entries took more than 1 day, to do just the first year (in TEST).
If we want to do this on a live environment for all years, we need to close the business.

We made some code, which is now running on a weekly base to delete records.
For instance all shipment lines are not relevant in our case, after a couple of months.
We don't create invoice lines with qty zero anymore, a back order report is created seperately based on the order.
We delete segments older than 3 years, we delete warehouse entries when there is no stock anymore in a bin (older than 18 months).
Our large tables have 20 to 50 mln records, 50 mln in the GL-Entry.

If there is some who alternatives, I'm interested.
