Able to Post beyond GL Setup Posting dates

    Hello,
    We are using NAV 2013R.
We have our GL Setup with Allow Posting From: 12/1/17 Allow Posting To: 2/28/18.
We did check the user setup and there were no dates entered there.
However, the person was able to post a credit memo and an invoice to 12/13/18.
Has anyone ever ran across this? If so, what was the solution?
We are really concerned, as we aren't able to lock our posting down as we thought we were doing.
    Thank you so much!

    Hello Karen,

If you're General Ledger Setup has "Allow Posting From: 12/1/17 Allow Posting To: 2/28/18" and there were no dates entered on the 'User Setup' page (not Users but User Setup), then base NAV out of the box wouldn't let anybody post with a 12/13/18 date. So either there is a customization related to this that was done incorrectly, or most likely the user had entered a line on the 'User Setup' page to allow override (or altered the General Ledger Setup) and then has since gone and changed it back.

You might consider using the Change Log to setup auditing on these fields.

    Hi Karen,

If you have dates on GL Setup  with Allow Posting From: 12/1/17 Allow Posting To: 2/28/18, but you have a record in User Setup table for that User with Blank dates, it will allow that user to post for dates before and beyond the dates specified in GL Setup. Do, either delete that users record from USer Setup table or assign it the same dates as GL Setup Dates. That will stop the users from posting in future (not allowed dates).  You can test and verify this in your TEST environment.

    Hope this helps!

We are using NAV 5 (although upgrading soon), and the same thing has happened to us for the past 2 years, in December only.  We are set up for no posting dates past 1-31-2018 on both the G/L Setup and User Setup, and yet our A/P person was able to post invoices into December 2018.

Is it possible they posted that line before the G/L setup was set to current dates?

The user setup is preventing the posting.
    Thanks all for your help!

Yes User Setup takes the priority over the General Ledger Setup even if you have blank dates in the user Setup.
