FACT BOX NOTES GET DROPPED

Last weekend we upgraded from Version 7 of Release 2017 to Version 20.

We have been expediting Drop Ship purchase orders.

We have added Fact Box notes to the Sales Order, with clarified information from our suppliers regarding rescheduled delivery dates
    and reasons for the delay.

We have found when we went back to review those sales orders the Fact Box Notes are being dropped.

The notes can also be added from an ICON in the Ribbon at the top of a sales order  view.

Has anyone else experienced that situation?

    Thank you in advance

Just to clarify what you are, you are entering a Note on a Sales Order, leave the screen and when you come back in the Note is gone?

It is a day or two later, that we find the notes are dropped.

Doing an order inquiry an hour after saving the note it is still there.

It drops after a period of time maybe 3 or 4 days later.

    Thank you

Pretty weird.  Certainly sounds like a customization gone wrong.  Unfortunately you cannot log that table via change log (as of NAV 2016) but you could add some code to capture deletes on that table.

Do you have any job queues entries that do anything to Notes or Links (same table behind the scenes 2000000068)? DO you have a test environment and does it happen there as well?

You might need to investigate some more by creating a fake sales order with some notes and periodically checking to see when it gets deleted.  Some job, process or user is deleting it -  you just need to figure out who and how.  I would go with my first suggestion to add code to table 2000000068 to track who and when a record is deleted.

We are seeing the notes getting dropped also.

Does anyone know of a solution or a root cause?

I have attached a Codeunit that will record any deleted note to a file on your service tier.  This will only work on NAV 2016 or greater since it uses an event.  Here are the steps:
    1) Import the codeunit into your system.  If you already had a codeuit 50000 then edit the first line of the file to be a codeunit number you can use before you import.
    2) Any deleted note will be recorded in a file on your service tier in the location C:\Bin\NotesLog.txt (the directory C:\Bin will be automatically created if it doesn't exist)
    3) When you are done, simply delete the codeunit and it will stop the logging.

The file will contain the following fields:
    Link ID
Record ID of the record that has the note
    User doing the deleting
    DateTime the Note was deleted

This should be safe but please do this at your own risk and in a test environment if possible.  Hopefully this will identify who and when the notes are being deleted.
