1.  Using an email template when sending NAV quote from Outlook

Posted 8 days ago

When a quote is sent to a customer from NAV, that quote is opened in MS Outlook, which is very nice. You are left with an open window in which has the customers email address and the attached quote along with the quote number in the subject line. The entire text box is completely empty, not even our standard company signatures. Perfect opportunity to use this space for marketing. How do we go about propagating the body of the text with our info, as a default so it is the same for everyone mailing a quote out of NAV? And then have the ability to change the message whenever we want?

You'll either need to look at a customization for this, or evaluate some of the add-ons that are available to provide enhanced email functionality.  We have our own DocumentPath product which does this.  It enables message templates to be defined (to dictate the subject, attachment name, body text, signature) so you can control how the messages are generated and change them easily at any time (by updating the template).

This depends on your version of NAV.  NAV 2017 allows you to use Word Layouts to create an email body.  Previous versions would require the use of an add-on or customization.

Hi,
This is a standard feature in NAV 2016 and NAV 2017. It is enhanced in NAV 2017.

Please refer below articles for how it works in 2016 and 2017-

We added a custom text field (250 characters) on the Salesperson Card (I blurred the salesman's name).

E-mail Signature Field
We also added a custom text field (250 characters) on the Company Card to print an E-mail Footer.

We also hard coded in the following for our acknowledgements (before the signature):

"Thank you for the order, attached is a copy of our Order Acknowledgement No. SO-001008.pdf"
