Planning worksheet error

We added a unit of measure called EA, that's our base unit of measure for most items .  We have some parts that are working ok but several that are not?

I've looked at the items in the SQL tables and the ones that work look exactly like the ones that don't work?

Everything seems ok until we run the planning worksheet and it spits out this error and doesn't plan for the item.

45015Y  The field Unit of Measure Code of table Planning Component contains a value (EA) that cannot be found in the related table (Item Unit of Measure).

Were these items created by importing directly into SQL rather than through into RapidStart or created manually? If so, you didn't fill the Item Unit of Measure table with a unit of measure for each item. This is the cross reference table for each item's uom.  You have a bug if you added them through Rapid Start or NAV that is allowing this.

These items were added via the NAV sessions, not rapid start.  Looks like we have a bug in 2018.  Now to figure out if it's an ISV issue or base nav...
    Thanks

In our version, NAV 2016, when we Rapid Start Items in it does NOT populate the Item Unit of Measure table automatically. It does not give you an error either, you think all is fine until as you discovered there is a problem.

We just changed our process so when we imported Items the first thing we did is create the populate the Item Unit of Measure with the new items first, then we went and imported the Items.

    Hello John,

We had a similar issue a couples months ago when we added items in through rapid start.  We received the same planning worksheet error.  However, when we checked the item card we were confused as it looked like the unit of measure and purchase unit of measure were setup correctly.

However, after clicking the dropdown on purchase unit of measure on the item card we saw the "Code" field was blank.  Even though the EA code displayed on the item card itself.  We just added EA and clicked ok.  We had no issues with those parts after we added the "Code" field.

If you have a lot of these items you may want to see if you can use a rapid start and add both unit of measurement fields.

Found it  (well John Grant did anyway).

It wasn't on the end item that had the issue.  It was with some of the items in the BOM were missing units of measure.
The error message didn't indicate that it was on a different part in the BOM but lessons have been learned :)
