Hi all,

We need to implement some workflows that will cover changes to standing data.  For example, if a user changes a field on the customer card, vendor card, bank account card, etc. then these changes should trigger an approval.  The trick is that we'd like the email that is sent to the approver to specify which fields were changed and preferable show the data both before and after the change.

We haven't been able to set this up with the base NAV workflows in NAV2017 and getting this developed is quite a job.  So we were wondering if there are any plugins out there that would take care of this?

Do you have any recommendations on good Workflow plugins for NAV2017?

I am going to offer a few solutions...

1. Addon ISV Dynamics NAV - https://agiles.com/en/agilesworkflow/  I have used them about 10 years ago for a customer looking to have the flexibility to create any kind of workflow in NAV.

2. Change Log - This feature in standard NAV allows you to setup a Table and Field(s) and record any changes/insertions/deletion to the table/field record. There is no base notification sent by Change Log but you could setup a report or Jet Report that reads the Change Log Entries table, for the Tables you are looking at, and run daily what has been updated. This is not a workflow or approval just information about changes.

3. Microsoft Flow - This could solve the issue with a more advanced workflow engine and process.

Thank you, Steven. I will definitely look into those two workflow options.

We are aware of the change log and are using it for some monitoring, but this is a control that happens "after the fact" and we're looking for a more preventative control.
